Free taxi service in twin cities till month-end

The residents of Hubballi-Dharwad are now being offered free cab services for a distance of 6 km till the month-end by Yatragenie Service, to mark the launch of its cab services.

Yatragenie already has its presence in all the 30 districts of Karnataka and Hubballi-Dharwad was the latest edition, chairman of the travel company, Renil Komitla told presspersons here on Tuesday.

Mr. Renil said that every cab was GPRS enabled and there was a panic button too.

While the initial 6 km travel would be free till March 31, Rs. 12 would be charged for every additional km, he said adding that Yatragenie, which already was offering its services in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telengana would soon extend it to Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Good response

To a query, he said that the company had received good response in tier-II and tier-III cities, while the other cab services were focusing more on metros. He said a call centre (0836-2020202) had been set up in Hubballi and they had also launched a Yatragenie app for the benefit of the techsavy commuters. “With an initial fleet of 20 vehicles in Hubballi-Dharwad, we wish to expand the network with the help of local partners,” he said.
