The Bharatiya Janata Party State unit will formally extend an invitation to its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Monday to visit the State. Sources said they want him to visit Bangalore on October 26 so that it will be convenient to organise a rally on the day. However, his visit may get put off if he has a prior appointment.
The party is said to be keen on organising a mammoth rally on the occasion of his first visit to the State after his appointment as the BJP’s national campaign committee chairman for the Lok Sabha polls.
“The proposed rally is going to be the biggest ever organised by the party in the State,” sources said, while pointing out that the biggest meet was the rally that saw a turnout of about 1.6 lakh people when the BJP was in power here.
The party has chalked out a plan and constituted various committees for the rally, with representation of two to four persons from each of its 52,000 booth-level committees.
Attendance fee
It has been decided to charge an attendance fee of Rs. 10 per person for the proposed rally. “It has been the BJP’s practice to charge a fee for its programmes attended by the cadre. We want to donate the fee amount to Mr. Modi for his campaign expenses,” sources said.
