Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday that the ideals and teachings of Lord Bahubali were eternal and people should follow them.
He was speaking at a public function, held as part of the mahamastakabhisheka festival at Pattanashetti grounds. Earlier, he offered prayers to the 42-feet statue of Lord Bahubali at the Bahubali Betta here.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said that all religions preached the welfare of mankind and urged people to lead righteous lives.
Lord Bahubali represented values, such as truth, non-violence and renunciation, which have a deep impact on people’s lives
He added that some forces were trying to disturb peace in the society and were trying to build walls among the people for their selfish reasons. Such tendencies should be curbed.
Social reformer, poet and philosopher Basaveshwara had spoken of social equality and wanted all people to be treated equally, he added. Saint-composer Kanakadasa had spoken against casteism and Mahatma Gandhi had followed the ideals of all great social reformers and brought independence to the country by following non-violent means.
The State government was committed to ensuring social justice to all people. “Our aim to provide all facilities to poor people and bring them out of poverty and illiteracy, Mr. Siddaramaiah said.
