Folk artiste Honnamma, who was ailing for the past few days, died here on Friday.

The last rites will be performed at Chennadevi Agrahara of Doddaballapur taluk on Saturday, according to her son and folklore expert T. Govindaraju.

Popularly known as “Janapada Tayi” , Honnamma was a recipient of Rajyotsava, Karnataka Janapada Academy and Kannada Sahitya Parishat awards.

The Kendra Sahitya Academy has brought out “Honna Kanaja” (golden treasury) in her honour.
