Five students injured as ceiling plastering of college classroom collapses

Five students were injured when a portion of the ceiling of a classroom of the Government First Grade College at Malur came down on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred when first year B.Sc class was in progress. The injured students Arunavathy, Mamata, Shobha, Asha and Monisha were treated at the government hospital.

“The students suffered minor injuries and there was no need for panic”, college principal C. Keshav Reddy told The Hindu . There were 26 students in the class when the incident took place.

Plastering measuring 4 x 6 ft. collapsed. Substandard quality of construction was blamed for the incident. The building was constructed three years ago, sources said.
