In a major fire mishap, electrical and electronic equipments were gutted in an under-construction cold storage located on the APMC yard premises at Amargol here on Friday.
Although the fire brigade personnel rushed to douse the fire immediately after it was reported, most of the electrical and electronic equipments in the cold storage were gutted by that time. The cold storage belonged to Karnataka State Agricultural Produce Processing and Export Corporation Limited (KEPPEC) and the construction was almost complete.
District Fire Officer S.S.Chnnaveershetty put the loss at around Rs. 35-40 lakhs. Short circuit is said to be the reason for the fire mishap.
