FIR filed against Deve Gowda

Hassan city police, on Tuesday, registered an FIR against former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Janata Dal (Secular) candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, on charges of violating the model code of conduct.

The charges levelled against him include bursting of crackers, raising slogans on the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises and addressing the media within a 100-m radius of the office, violating the prohibitory orders clamped as per Section 144 of the CrPC.

JD(S) workers had burst crackers and raised slogans, on Tuesday, when Mr. Deve Gowda filed his nomination papers.

The FIR has been registered under Sections of the People’s Representation Act. The police booked the case against the candidate, based on a complaint filed Nagarajaiah, officer of the model code of conduct team.
