‘Father of Nation’ remembered on death anniversary

Government officials, religious leaders and students paid tribute to the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi here on Friday on his death anniversary observed as ‘Martyrs’ Day’.

Additional Deputy Commissioner B.R. Poornima, in a function organised at the office of Deputy Commissioner, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

“Mahatma Gandhi was the apostle of peace and non-violence. Everyone should follow his principles,” she said.

Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) coordinator S. Siddaramappa, officials of several government departments and some religious leaders also remembered the Father of Nation on the occasion.

Other places

Meanwhile, special prayers were also offered to Gandhi at other places and taluk headquarters across the district on Friday.
