Farmers oppose waste management plant

Farmers have opposed the move by the city municipal council to establish a solid waste management plant on 26.5 acres of land at Yadahalli in Kolar taluk. A delegation of farmers from Yadahalli and neighbouring villages of Beeramanhalli, Veerapur, Thoradevandahalli, Arahalli and Moorandahalli, led by the district unit of the KPRS, have petitioned the district administration against setting up of the plant. In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, the farmers said life in the rural belt would be affected urged the authorities to roll back the decision to set up the plant.
