Farmer commits suicide

A farmer committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Muduganuru in Arakalgud taluk on Wednesday. The police gave the name of the deceased as Rama Naika, 68. He is survived by his wife and four children. According to the police, he consumed the pesticide when he was alone at home. His wife noticed him dead as she returned home from the field. He and his sons owned four acres of agriculture land. He had borrowed around ₹4.5 lakh from banks and also recently received bank notice for not repaying the loan. He was not in a position to repay the loan as he suffered loss in agriculture. His borewell too had gone dry. The Konanuru police have registered an unnatural death report.
