Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare Umashree has written to Home Minister K.J. George and Bangalore city Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi to book a case against writer V.R. Bhat under the Goonda Act, and to arrest him immediately for his “inappropriate” comments against a woman in the social media. Ms. Umashree told a press conference here on Thursday that the writer’s indecent comments against the woman on Facebook would amount to a “heinous crime” and displayed his “perverted attitude”.

The episode of the author posting such comments on social media has kicked up a row with a large number of people demanding stern action against him to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
