Eight persons were killed and five others critically injured in a head-on collision between an auto and a speeding lorry near Deveahipparagi town on Sunday morning. The injured have been admitted to different hospitals in the town and in Bijapur.
The victims were on their way to the weekly market to sell vegetables when the accident happened. The lorry driver has fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle.
