Rajkumar Lal, Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway, Mysuru, led a team of officers, staff and personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF) in a drive against ticketless travel here on Wednesday.
He went through the coaches of the Mysore-Bengaluru Tipu Super Fast Express urging passengers to help the Railways in maintaining a high-level of cleanliness on the railway premises and in the trains.
Mr. Lal distributed pamphlets containing tips for passengers to avoid being fined.
As of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, 39 cases had been booked against ticketless travel and other irregularities resulting in a penalty of Rs. 9,385.
The checks continued throughout the day, according to railway authorities here. Mr. Lal urged the passengers to always travel with proper authority and added that the checks against ticketless travellers would be intensified in the days ahead.
