Drama festival in Ballari from March 14

Rangathorana, a local cultural organisation, will organise a three-day State-level drama festival for college students at Dr. Joladarashi Doddanagouda Rangamandir from March 14.

The best play would be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 and those adjudged second and third would be given Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively, Prabhudev Kappagal, secretary, told press persons here on Sunday. Music director Hamsalekha would inaugurate the festival while Rajappa Dalwai of Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi, would be its president.

Symposiums

There would be symposiums, interaction with experts in theatre, and a book exhibition. As many as 18 troupes from various parts of the State are expected to take part in the festival.

Boarding and lodging

Each troupe could have a maximum of 20 members, who would be provided free boarding and lodging. Separate accommodation would also be made for girls and teachers.

Individual prizes for best actor/actress, direction and stage would be given. Best costume, one from each of the troupes, participating in the ‘Ranga Shobhayatre’ would also be awarded.
