Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shobha Karandlaje said that the Congress government has failed miserably in solving the power problem in the State.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Ms. Karandlaje, who was the party’s candidate for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency, said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should resolve his differences with Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar. These differences were responsible for the present power problem in the State. “The people of the State should not be made to suffer because of their internal differences,” she said.

On Mr. Siddaramaiah’s statement that the power problem could be traced to mismanagement during Ms. Karandlaje tenure as Energy Minister, she said that Mr. Siddramaiah should get all the files from the Energy Ministry and check all the facts and figures and then come to a conclusion. Mr. Siddaramaiah was making statements without checking facts.

“Mr. Siddaramaiah should either solve the power problem in the State or resign from his post,” she said.

Ms. Karandlaje said that the State was facing not only power problem but also drought and water crises.

Instead of taking steps to resolve these serious issues, Mr. Siddaramaiah was busy giving political statements.

He should solve these problems then give statements, she said.

She said that she was confident of winning the election because of the “Modi wave”. After winning, she would make earnest attempts to solve the problems of the constituency, she said.
