Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda warned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to be cautious when criticising Opposition parties and should behave in a manner befitting his stature.

Addressing a press conference at the residence of MLA D. Nagarajaiah in Kunigal town of Tumkur district on Tuesday, Mr. Deve Gowda spoke in favour of Union Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge and KPCC president G. Parameshwara.

But, he said if Mr. Siddaramaiah says he is the leader of Ahinda group, then he should have suggested the name of Mr. Kharge, a Dalit leader for the post of Chief Minister, and Mr. Parameshwara for the Deputy Chief Ministership.

Road shows

He questioned why Mr. Siddaramaiah, who calls the JD(S) an ‘Appa-makkala’ Paksha (father-son party) went to ‘Thayi-Magana’ Paksha (mother-son party). Mr. Gowda, later in the day, took out road shows in the villages of Kunigal taluk in the district.

He was accompanied by legislators M.T. Krishnappa, D. Nagarajaiah and other party workers.
