In the core of Mysuru, plastic ban appears to be ineffective as some traders continue to hand over plastic carry bags when asked by customers.
At the century-old Devaraja Market here on Saturday, traders in some shops gave plastic bags (below 40 micron thickness) to carry purchases.
There is a fear of raids by the Mysore City Corporation among some traders, who have stopped using plastic bags. Some others give plastic bags only after ensuring that nobody was watching them
But the ban has brought revenue for some, with cloth bags making appearance more prominently now.
