Illegal construction:Town Panchayat began razing an illegal madrasa at a residential site in K.R. Pet town in Mandya district on Friday.

The K.R. Pet Town Panchayat launched a drive to demolish an illegal madrasa that had come up at a residential site at Hemavati Layout, in K.R. Pet town in the district on Friday.

A local resident had allegedly constructed a madrasa on a residential site allotted to him without obtaining mandatory permission.

As the authorities concerned had not initiated any steps to clear the illegal construction, the local residents threatened to observe a ‘K.R. Pet Bandh’ on June 20.

Subsequently, revenue and police officials visited the spot on Friday and removed the roof and some other structures from the illegal construction.

They also disconnected illegal electricity and water connections from the structure. Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal members have decided to file a complaint to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), against the former K.R. Pet Town Panchayat president K. Ghouse Khan for attempting to disrupt communal harmony by encouraging the illegal construction.
