Expressing anguish over the sale of liquor in their locality, residents of Tavaregere here staged a protest outside a bar on Saturday.
A police constable attached to a rural police station, according to the protestors, had allegedly assaulted a resident of Tavaregere at Surya Bar on Thursday night.
Condemning the assault, several women and youths staged a protest outside the bar for a while. The residents of the locality urged the Excise Department to cancel the licence issued to Surya Bar as it was allegedly making the life of Tavaregere residents miserable.
