Various Dalit organisations staged a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Friday demanding action against miscreants posting derogatory remarks against B.R. Ambedkar on social media pages.

A similar protest was held at Gandhi Chowk in Surpur taluk headquarters.

The movement of government and private vehicles was disrupted for a moment when protesters blocked the road and burnt tyres. The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the miscreants. Police beefed up the security at the protest venue and no untoward incidents were reported, sources said. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner’s at Yadgir and to the Tahasildar at Surpur.
