The Bharatiya Janata Party city unit has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while accusing him of failure to maintain law and order in Dakshina Kannada district.

Members of the unit led by former Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashok staged a protest on Wednesday to condemn the delay in arresting the murderers of RSS activist Sharat in Dakshina Kannada.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashok alleged that the attacks against Sangh Parviar members had increased in the State after the Congress came to power. Further alleging that more than 10 Sangh Parivar members had been murdered in the regime of Congress led by Mr. Siddaramaiah, he demanded that the Chief Minister should resign owning moral responsibility for the murders.

BJP State General Secretary Shobha Karandlaje alleged that the communal violence in Dakshina Kannada district had been instigated by the Congress.
