A group of government daily wage workers staged a sit-in protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday seeking regularisation of services.

They also demanded equal pay for equal work, increase in wages and social security benefits from the State government.

“We have been working in various departments on daily-wage basis for several years. We have been staging protests and submitting memorandums to State government seeking regularisation of service. However, no action has been initiated so far,” a member said.

They urged the State government to provide minimum wages and other facilities as per the government order to contract labourers.

Appaji, Paramesh, Venkatesh, Shivalingaiah, Yashodha, Vairamudi, Shivalingaiah and others took part in the protest.
