Creating awareness on crime and investigation

The JSS Medical College here conducted a Forensic Fair to create public awareness on crime and the various methods of investigation on Sunday.

It was conducted by the Department of Forensic Medicine, JSS Medical College, in collaboration with the Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru City Police, Karnataka Medico Legal Society, Department of Criminology, Mahajana Ist Grade College and University of Mysore, and the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Mysuru.

A release said the Forensic Fair threw light on various aspects of forensic medicine including firearms, dental evidence, firearms, analytical procedures in crime investigation, detection of poison, fingerprint examination, handwriting analysis and tests to detect adulteration.

There was also a demonstration on snakes by Balasubramaniam, who is popularly known as ‘Snake Shyam’ and is a Mysore City Corporation councillor. Besides, there were demonstrations on identifying fake currency notes, food adulteration etc.

Accidental poisoning

The stall of Poison Information Centre, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, JSS Hospital, provided information on precautionary measures to be taken to prevent accidental poisoning.

The fair attracted students from various educational institutions.
