A patrolling party of the Indian Army found a country weapon within the historical fort under the Market Police limits here on Thursday morning.
On receipt of information about the finding, police officials rushed to the spot and took the pistol into custody, which was in a poor condition.
The police said that an army personnel, Bhushan Bajirao, found the pistol near the entrance of the fort close to Bharatesh School during a routine morning patrolling duty. He alerted his senior officials immediately, who subsequently informed the Market Police.
The police said that the pistol seems to be very old. A case has been registered under Section of 102 of Cr.PC and Section 25 of the Indian Arms Act. Further investigation is on.
