Corporation pays condolences

The general body meeting of the Congress-controlled Ballari City Corporation mourned the death of K. Ashok, chairman of the Standing Committee on Taxation and Audit, and adjourned the meeting for Tuesday.

As the meeting commenced, Mayor M. Ramesh, in the chair, after observing a two-minute silence, announced the adjournment of the meeting.

Mr. Ashok, representing 12th ward, died on Sunday at a hospital in Bengaluru where he was shifted for treatment after he attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison a few days ago at Tekkalakota in Sirguppa taluk. The reason for the suicide attempt is not known.
