Congressmen shower praises on Minister

March 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - HUBBALLI:

The city on Tuesday witnessed a different function altogether with politicians cutting across party lines refraining from talking politics and emphasising on the need for shunning politics in development. And in an unusual gesture, Congressmen showered praises on Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari.

While it was natural for BJP State president Pralhad Joshi, former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Union Minister H.N. Ananth Kumar to praise their party leader— Mr. Gadkari — for his “help” in developing various roads, including National Highways in the State, PWD Minister H.C. Mahadevappa and District-in-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni (both from the Congress) also did not hesitate in praising Mr. Gadkari for his work. The duo spoke of not indulging in politics in issues concerning development. Mr. Mahadevappa further described Mr. Gadkari as “a visionary and a statesman,” who sanctioned projects without looking at party affiliations. Mr. Mahadevappa also said that the union minister took spot decisions and said that the State government would “stand by him” when it came to the issue of development.

Meanwhile. Mr. Gadkari lauded Mr. Ananth Kumar for his efforts to ensure adequate availability of urea to farmers.

Mr. Gadkari also praised Mr. Joshi, also an MP, for his untiring efforts to get projects sanctioned for his region.
