Congress to observe Akrosh Divas today

The Congress is all set to observe Akrosh Divas on Monday to condemn the demonetisation of high value currency.

District Congress committee secretary Suresh Jain said in a release that a rally would be taken out from the party office to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and a memorandum would be submitted to the authorities. Party activists, members of taluk panchayats, zilla panchayat, and other local bodies were requested to participate in the rally.

Meanwhile, the police have taken steps to prevent untoward incidents. Vinayak Patil, Superintend of Police, said five platoons of the District Armed Reserve and one of the Karnataka State Reserve Police too would be deployed. State-owned buses would operate services as usual, Santosh Gogeri, North-Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation Yadgir divisional controller, said. Mr. Patil said that police security would be provided for buses.
