The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) have refuted the Union Government’s claims made through media and advertisements to mark BJP’s one year in power and pointed out that the Government was working in sharp contrast to its pre-poll promises made to the voters of the nation a year ago.

CITU District Secretary G.M. Jainekhan said here on Thursday that the government is more concerned about the MNCs and industrialists and therefore extending invitations under the title “Make in India”. The Government is amending land acquisition laws to acquire agricultural lands of farmers to facilitate MNCs to expand in India.

He said that Mr. Modi had promised to recover blackmoney stashed in Swiss banks and other countries and bring it back into India in 100 days of coming to power and subsequently deposit Rs.1 5 lakhs in bank accounts of every Indian, besides take concrete measures to bring down prices of fuel and commodities. But, the Centre has increased duty on petroleum fuels by more than seven per cent and the prices of food grains are sky-rocketing. Traders and middlemen are reaping huge profits at the expense of farmers.

The domestic insurance and banking sectors had already started feeling heat of emergence of foreign banks and insurance companies entering into Indian sectors.
