The Pre-University chemistry question paper was leaked from the Hanagal treasury in Haveri district, a probe by the Criminal investigation Department has revealed.
The information about the source of leak was revealed by Kiran alias Kumaraswamy, nephew of Shivakumar, who was arrested recently by the CID. However, with the latest developments, Kiran is now being termed as the prime accused of the question paper leak.
CID officials told The Hindu that he used to get the question papers through Santhosh Parshuram Agasimani, a second division assistant in the sub-treasury at Hanagal.
CID’s Director General of Police Kishore Chandra said that Agasimani had given the keys of the treasury to Kiran to access the question paper. He said Kiran then photographed the question paper and resealed the bundles. The photographs were then sent to his contacts through Whatsapp to be sold to “customers.”
Based on a tip off, the CID team reached a farm house in Tumakuru where Kiran was hiding. To conceal his identity, the CID officials said he had even tonsured his head and removed his moustache.
A team of police was sent to Hanagal to secure Agasimani for further investigations. Sources confirmed that Agasimani has been detained.
