The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday traced the source of the II pre-university question paper leak and arrested 10 persons, including three government schoolteachers, a lecturer, a security firm owner and a Treasury Department employee, at Kadur in Chikmagalur district.
Biology paper too?
Those arrested reportedly told the police that they had fraudulently procured the questions papers of not only the Maths and Physics examinations but also the Biology paper from the sub-treasury in Kadur and sold them to several persons in different parts of the State.
The racketeers reportedly sold the Biology paper two days before the examination.
“It was a well-planned and executed racket. The accused distributed the papers through fax, email and courier besides physically selling them,” Rupak Kumar Dutta, DGP (CID) told presspersons here on Monday.
Mr. Dutta said more people were involved in the racket and they would be arrested soon.
The officer identified the arrested as H.S. Suneel Kumar (34) a second grade employee of the sub-treasury in Kadur; Munavar Basha Abdul Sathar Saab (44) of Kadur, also an Integrated Education Research Teacher at the Block Resource Centre in Kadur; Siddaramaiah Nagaramallaiah (44) of Baggavalli in Chikmagalur, who is an assistant teacher at Kudlur primary school; Yogeshwar Siddappa (36) of Arahalli in Hosadurga taluk in Chitradurga district; Ravikumar Thimmappa (28) of Thalikatte Kavalu near Ramagiri in Holalkere taluk; Shashidhar Lingamurthy (28) of Chikkanahongala in Tarikere in Chikmagalur district; D.S. Anil Rahut (27), a water supplier from the District Agricultural Training Institute in Hallikere near Barandur in Bhadravati; G. Prahlad (49), who runs Youth Security Services in Shivani village in Tarikere; T. Sonnappa (37), an assistant teacher at the Government Higher Primary School in Doddakurubarahalli near Devanahalli; and C.P. Ramesh (42), lecturer at SEA College in K.R. Puram in Bangalore.
Well-planned
“Munavar masterminded the whole racket with the help of treasury employee Suneel,” Mr. Dutta told The Hindu .
According to the officer, so far investigations had revealed that Munavar allegedly took the question papers from the sub-treasury, made copies inside the sub-treasury itself and then sold the papers to several persons.
Suneel Kumar, who had been entrusted with the treasury keys, allowed Munavar inside the sub-treasury The accused will be produced in court in Tarikere on Tuesday.
