The summer camp for children – Chinnara Mela – organised by theatre repertoire Rangayana – got underway in the city on Sunday with musician Raghu Dixit inaugurating the camp.
Being held annually for the last 18 years, the summer camp is an opportunity for children to overcome their inhibitions, develop creativity latent in them and help discover their areas of interest.
Mr. Dixit, who interacted with both children and parents, had a word of advice for both of them. He asked the children not to ignore studies during their education period in schools and colleges and parents were advised to encourage their children to pursue their areas of interest. The talk was followed by a rendering of a few of his songs and children joined in chorus to mark the inauguration on a musical note. The month-long camp will see 450 children participating in a slew of events including theatre, personality development, music, dance, folk, painting, and games, besides being exposed to inspiring talks by resource persons drawn from various walks of life. The objective of the camp is to ensure the participants' comprehensive personality development.
Deputy Commissioner C.Shikha, actor Mandya Ramesh, and Rangayana Director H. Janardhan were present on the occasion.
