Children suffer for art

The Nuggehalli unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat had prepared a tableau showcasing Hoysala temples. Students of Vivekananda Convent in Nuggehalli were made to stand as ‘shilabalikas’ of Belur temple all along the procession. In fact, they were tied to the Hoysala-style structure, with a rope. The children were in pain as they had to maintain that posture for more than an hour. The public, while appreciating the efforts of the organisers, felt disappointed by the treatment meted out to the children.
