‘Children deprived of their rights’

February 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - DAVANGERE:

District Human Rights Forum president S.H. Patel has said that most children across the world are deprived of their rights and parents are mainly responsible for such violation of human rights.

Speaking after inaugurating a workshop organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, human rights commission and DDPI here on Friday, he said that parents put restrictions on children to ensure that they were well behaved and disciplined, and force them not to enjoy their childhood.

“Parents and other relatives misguide them on caste, creed, colour and sex in the name of tradition. Such misconceptions lead to hatred about other communities and it continues throughout their life. But such environment can be changed only through better education and good teachers, who transform the minds of these children in the right direction,” he added.
