Chess competition in Kalaburagi on Monday

The Hindu in School in collaboration with Thyrocare will host ‘ The Hindu in School (THiS) Chess Competition 2016’ here on August 1.

The competition for junior and senior sections will be conducted by the Gulbarga Chess Association at the Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School Multi Purpose Hall from 8.30 a.m.

The Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School is the venue sponsors for the event.

It is for the first time that The Hindu in School is organising a chess competition for students here.

While students from classes 5 to 8 are included in the junior section, those in classes 9 to 12 are in the senior section. An entry fee of Rs. 100 will be collected per participant.

While the students can register their names at the venue on, they can also register online (www.thehindu.com/thischess ) and bring a print out of the confirmatory email along with their school identify card for participating in the competition.

The participating players should bring their own chess sets and chess clocks.

Rules

The chess tournament will be played on Swiss League basis under the latest FIDE Rapid rules.

All the participating chess players will be provided certificates and the nine toppers will receive prizes along with merit certificates on the same day. For details, call 986677268.
