A supporter of evangelist K.A. Paul engaged in an argument with presspersons in Bangalore on Tuesday.

A press conference convened by Andhra Pradesh-based evangelist and Global Peace Initiative president K.A. Paul to announce his support for the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections descended into chaos following a heated exchange of words between his supporters and journalists.

The venue was packed with Mr. Paul’s supporters, especially pastors who numbered around 100.

Mr. Paul, who did not address the media as per what was stated in the invitation, initially addressed the pastors urging them to support the BJP and then mediapersons in the presence of the pastors.

A journalist objected to the participation of Mr. Paul’s supporters in the press conference and to a lunch being hosted for the pastors on the grounds that it was a violation of the poll code.

This resulted in a verbal clash. The issue was resolved after some supporters of the evangelist intervened and brought the situation under control.
