Chandraprabha Urs, former Minister and daughter of late Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs, passed away at a private hospital in Mysuru after a brief illness. She was 67.

Ms. Urs, who had been admitted to a private hospital in the city about nine days ago, died after a cardiac arrest around 6 pm on Tuesday.

Ms. Urs, who was elected to the Assembly twice in the 1980s and served as a Minister, had won the Lok Sabha elections from Mysuru in 1991 when, as a Congress candidate, she defeated the then BJP candidate late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.

She leaves behind a son Manjunath and a daughter Anupama. Her husband and a son predeceased her.
