K.S. Rangappa, Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University, has said that the Chamarajanagar postgraduate satellite centre would be developed as a model satellite centre in the State by providing adequate facilities.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Dr. Rangappa said, steps had been initiated to construct a postgraduate centre at a cost of Rs.15 crore in Chamarajanagar. Mysore University would provide Rs. 5 crore for the new postgraduate centre. There were plans to commence postgraduate courses in science stream, Kannada and Rural Development, he said.
Speaking after performing the ground-breaking ceremony in 54 acres of land near Kellamballi village on the outskirts of Chamarajanagar, R. Druvanarayan, MP, said the government had sanctioned Rs. 8 crore for the new facility. The University Grants Commission had also released Rs. 2 crore for the purpose. However, the Chief Minister and the University Grants Commission authorities had been requested to release more funds for the project, he said.
