Union Law Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda has said that the Union government will initiate measures to repeal 1,250 irrelevant and obsolete laws.
Speaking at the 9th Karnataka Notaries’ Conference here on Saturday, Mr. Gowda said that the Union government had identified 1,741 outdated laws and 1,250 of them would soon be repealed.
The Union government had initiated measures to bring in judicial reforms, including simplifying of rules for obtaining bail and appointment of judges, for speedy disposal of pending litigations.Mr. Gowda lauded the services of notaries, especially the effective manner in which they ensured adherence to legal formalities. Over 350 notaries from across the State participated in the conference and discussed about the welfare and improvement of the conditions of notaries. C.S. Puttaraju, MP; S. Suresh Babu, president of the Karnataka State Notary Association; H.K.V. Reddy, its former president; B. Sinivasa Gowda, High Court judge; and H.C. Shivaramu, president of the Bengaluru Bar Council were among those present.
More than 350 notaries from across the State participate in the convention
