CBSE Class 10: Karnataka secures third spot in Chennai region

Class X CBSE students in Karnataka recorded 99.89 per cent pass and bagged the third spot in the Chennai region, which consists of five States and three union territories. The results were announced on Monday.

This is a slight decrease from last year’s pass per cent of 99.90. The top spot in the southern region was bagged by Puducherry with cent per cent passes, while Tamil Nadu came second with 99.94 per cent. Karnataka which came third in the Chennai region shared the third spot with Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Karnataka’s pass per cent of 99.89 is higher than the overall Chennai region average of 99.58 per cent. Like every year, girls fared better than boys in the State. While boys recorded 99.84 per cent passes, girls clocked 99.97 per cent passes. Out of 26,596 students in the State, all but 28 students passed. In Karnataka, 4,881 students opted for the school-based exams, while 21,715 took the board- based exams.

Forty Kendriya Vidalayas in Karnataka and Goa secured cent per cent pass, a senior official from the KV Sanghatan said. He also added that out of over 4,300 students who appeared for the exam, 13 per cent secured the highest 10 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Among the 10 regions in the country, the Chennai region has the highest number of students (12,887) who have secured 10 CGPAs.
