The Betamangala police on Friday registered criminal cases against six persons, including KGF MLA Y. Ramakka, in connection with alleged forgery of documents to grab land.
The police initiated the action following a direction from Senior Judge of the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court, KGF, Mamadapur.
The court has directed the police to register cases and investigate the charge that the accused purchased 1.23 acres of land allegedly based on forged documents.
The other accused are Sriramappa, Sriram Reddy, A. Ravikumar, Venkatamma
and Kotthur Narayanappa.
Sriramappa of Nagashettihalli is said to have sold the 1.23 acres of land that belonged to Beerappa, a resident of Adampalli near KGF, to Ms. Ramakka in March 2010 based on forged documents.
It is said that Mr. Beerappa executed a general power of attorney (GPA) in the name of Sriramappa in 2009. Subsequently, Sriramappa allegedly sold the property to Ms. Ramakka in connivance with the other accused.
The land was registered in Ms. Ramakka’s name at the Sub-Registrar’s Office on March 10, 2010.
Mr. Beerappa filed a civil suit in the JMFC court in 2011 alleging that his land was sold based on forged documents.
The judge, in his order on June 26, observed that it had been established prima facie that the documents had been forged and the property sold illegally. He directed the police to register cases against the vendor and the buyer of the land.
