Bust of Basaveshwara donated to Shivamogga City Corporation

The Lambeth Basaveshwara Foundation, an United Kingdom-based non-profit organisation handed over the bust of social reformer Basaveshwara to Shivamogga City Corporation at a programme near British Parliament in London recently. The bust has been donated by Lambeth Basaveshwara Foundation to Shivamogga City Corporation.

N. Elumalai, Mayor, received the bust from Neeraj Patil, former Mayor of London borough of Lambeth and chairperson of The Lambeth Basaveshwara Foundation. The bust is three ft. high and sculpted from black bronze.

Mr. Elumalai said the bust would be installed at the entrance of Mahatma Gandhi Park in Shivamogga city. Members of the British Kannada community also attended the programme.

It may be mentioned here that when Mr. Patil had visited Shivamogga city on April 14, 2016, he was felicitated by the corporation for his initiatives to install the bust of Basaveshwara in London. Mr. Patil had promised that the foundation would donate a bust of Basaveshwara to the residents of Shivamogga city.
