Buses to Tamil Nadu only after 'assessing situation': KSRTC

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will assess the situation following the final Cauvery verdict and operate buses to Tamil Nadu. As of now, the road transport corporation has stopped bus services to Coimbatore and Ooty sector from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar divisions.

A senior official of the KSRTC told The Hindu , “Last night, we have operated all the 408 schedules from Bengaluru to Tamil Nadu and morning services were also normal. From Tamil Nadu side, they have stopped Mysuru-bound buses. After 10.30 a.m., we will assess the situation and operate buses. We have stopped plying buses to Tamil Nadu from Chamrajanagar and Mysore division, following instructions from TN police.”

Till 10 a.m., nine buses departed from Bengaluru to Tamil Nadu. They will be dropping the passengers at the inter-state border, according to officials.

KSRTC officials in Mysuru said the buses plying to Coimbatore were returning from Hasanur on the border while buses plying to Udhagamandalam were returning from Chekkahalla.

Meanwhile, the Mandya district police said they will provide security to TN registered vehicles that commute on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, other State and National highways passing through the district. KSRTC operates 74 trips to TN from Mysuru everyday. KSRTC officials said that all buses from Mysuru were back in the state and there were no KSRTC buses from Mysuru in the neighbouring state.

In Bengaluru, the police have rounded up as many as 50 habitual offenders and mischief mongers as precautionary measure in and around the cit since Thursday night. They have stepped up strolling in sensitive and hyper sensitive areas, besides pressing 60 platoons of KSRP and 40 platoons of CAR into service to monitor law and order.
