The derogatory remark made by sacked vice-president of the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit Dayashankar Singh about Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati had its echo in Kalaburagi, which has a large concentration of Dalits, with party workers and Dalits staging a protest demonstration and burning an effigy of Dayashankar Singh.
They demanded that Dayashankar Singh be arrested immediately and that cases booked against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Atrocities (Prevention) Act and said that indecent remarks by the BJP leader had exposed the indecent mindset of the BJP as a whole and their members’ disrespect towards women in general.
