Training its guns on actor-turned-Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh, the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party has not only taken exception to his presence at the Kingfisher Derby here last week, but also accused him of pressuring the government to stall the shifting of the Bangalore Turf Club to from the city.
In a press release here on Saturday, BJP media in charge S. Prakash accused the Minister of supporting the interests of the BTC to help retain the club in the city in the last Cabinet meeting despite the Karnataka High Court ordering that it should be shifted.
The BJP urged the Minister to clarify whether his interests rested with the people of Karnataka or with the BTC.
The party demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remind Mr. Ambareesh about his responsibilities and the need to work for the welfare of the people of the State rather than focusing his energies on supporting the BTC.
His habits were a matter of personal choice before becoming Minister, but after assuming charge, he should ensure that he does not send out a “wrong message” to society through his conduct, Mr. Prakash argued.
