BJP to launch mass contact programme

April 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - KALABURAGI:

The BJP has drawn up a plan to launch a three-month mass contact programme for the 10 crore plus newly enrolled members to further strengthen the party’s newly created cadre base from June.

National General Secretary of the party Muralidhar Rao, who is also the in-charge of the party affairs in Karnataka, told presspersons here that the party cadre would reach out to every single household of the new members who had enrolled during the membership drive and collect all their personal details. These details would be stored in the memory bank of the party.

The next phase of strengthening of the party base would begin in August with training sessions for the cadre. These trainings would be conducted from the Mandal level to the State level. “This exercise is being executed to create a committed cadre base at all the booth levels throughout the country to further cement the party’s hold in the elected bodies,” he said. Mr. Rao said that the present highly successful membership drive would come to an end on April 30. Already more than 9.50 crore new members have been enrolled in the party and we are confident of crossing the 10 crore mark by the end of the membership drive. Karnataka’s contribution to the new membership drive had been stupendous and already 90.5 lakh new members have been enrolled and another 50,000 new members would be enrolled by the end of the membership drive.

Mr. Rao said that the party’s leadership was attaching more importance to Karnataka since it was the gateway for the party’s entry into the south Indian States and the party’s influence was growing steadily in all the southern States including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. He said that the party leaders, who were busy with the membership drive and other organisational works in Karnataka, would step up their movement against the Congress government.
