BJP MLA’s padayatra criticised

The District Congress Committee (DCC) of Raichur has criticised the proposed padayatra by Raichur Rural MLA Tipparaju Hawaldar for uninterrupted power supply to rural areas.

Mr. Hawaldar plans to hold the padayatra from the last week of November.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Ramanna Irabagera, president, DCC, said Mr. Hawaldar has maintained silence for four years and now is suddenly organising a padayatra as the elections to the Assembly are nearing. He said the Energy Minister had assured uninterrupted power supply when B.V. Naik, MP, visited him. Knowing this, Mr. Hawaldar organised the padayatra to take credit if government acted, he added. The State government was supplying power in three phases, seven hours a day despite there being a shortage in production.
