They want govt. to find a solution to doctors’ strike

Legislators of the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a protest in front of the Suvarna Soudha here on Thursday demanding the Congress government’s intervention to end the doctors’ strike as it caused a lot of inconvenience to patients across the State.

MLAs and former Ministers S. Suresh Kumar, Visvesvara Hegde Kageri, aand Appachu Ranjan and former Speaker K.G. Bopaiah and other members staged the protest, seeking an amicable solution.

Mr. Suresh Kumar, who posted the photograph of the protest in his Facebook account, said “the government should immediately come out of the ICU” and take steps for safeguard the interest of patients visiting OPD wings in various hospitals.

Doctors affiliated with IMA and other associations have been opposing the tabling of the Karnataka Private Medical Establishment Bill, 2017, in the State Legislature. Doctors have been demanding dropping of stringent provisions, including capping of prices, jail term and penalty for erring doctors, in the Bill.
