The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fresh membership drive across the district on Monday.

Siddaraju, former MLC, inaugurated the district-level membership drive by distributing mobile handsets to several party members near Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus stand here.

The party would deploy workers at KSRTC/private bus stands, railway stations, cinema halls, hotels, near government offices, courts and other public places across the district, Mr. Siddaraju said.

Anyone, above the age of 18, can take the membership of the party by giving a missed call on phone number 1800-266-2020, he said.

The drive will continue till March 31, 2015. It has been undertaken as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide programme launched recently, he added.
