‘People are joining AAP and the euphoria will continue till LS elections’
The former Union Minister Yogendra Makwana on Saturday predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party, under the leadership of its prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would win at least 180 seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections, if the Aam Aadmi Party plays spoilsport by putting up tough candidates in some important constituencies.
Speaking to The Hindu, Dr. Makwana, also president of the Bharat Navanirman Party, which won two seats in the Rajasthan Assembly elections and five Independents with its support, said that the BJP could easily win 200 Lok Sabha seats and form the government, if the AAP was not in the fray.
Mr. Makwana, a prominent Scheduled Caste leader from Gujarat, who has been touring the States to study the political situation across the country, said that people were joining the AAP and the euphoria would continue till the parliamentary elections. Since the people always wanted a national party to rule at the Centre and the Congress had lost touch and connect with the people, the BJP had a chance to come to power with the support of regional parties, he said. He added that his party would think of having truck with the BJP; some of its leaders were in contact with him. He said Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was inexperienced and cannot lead the party to power.
