Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has given assent to the Karnataka Land Revenue (Amendment) Bill, 2012, which will regularise unauthorised houses built on government land in rural areas.
Sources in the Secretariat said the Governor gave his assent to the Bill on Saturday.
The Bill seeks to amend the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964, providing for grant of land in the case of the unauthorised construction on government land in rural areas.
However, the Governor had returned the Karnataka Land Revenue (Second Amendment) Bill, 2012, which was passed in both the Houses of the Legislature during the previous regime, saying it would not “serve any public good or social cause”. The Bill seeks to regularise illegal constructions in urban areas.
